Barnyard Tragedy
My Mother's Garden:
Today was hair day. I decided to leave the salon curly...not straighten my hair for a while. I also decided I wanted the color more natural and really softened the highlights. Then I was bummed because I was so what...so "natural" I like the curls again but when my hair is curly I really prefer a blonder look. I will be back in a month re-lightening my hair. I just can't stay "normal" brunette.
My Nephew Soccer Star:
In awful awful news today I came home and noticed one of my chicks out alone in the pasture which struck me as odd. I rushed to the barn and in the breezeway lay one of my chicks dead. Stepped on by a horse. And I know exactly which horse it was too, don't we Spirit? I just cried. Tonight the remaining two a single hen and a single rooster were just so despondent...they just seemed so sad and pitiful. The other little hen has been inseparable from the remaining hen from the get go. They were smaller and always playing, cutting up together. I just cannot believe this happened.
And I just made their little picture Monday night for the Blog this week:
I threatened all three horses with the glue factory if I ever had another accident like this one happen. I really am just sick over it and can't imagine how the last two must feel.

What a lovely garden and enjoyed the photos of your nephew. That is *so* upsetting about the poor little chick though. I missed what happened earlier, are the horses stepping on them accidentally? :(

Be glad you're still brunette - it's far better than mousy silver ;o)! But I'm all for natural and I'll bet you look beautiful no matter the hair do.
Gorgeous, gorgeous flowers. Ours are just now coming into bloom but have not burst forth just yet. Soon. I did make some rhubarb jam yesterday though and that made me abnormally happy!

Geee - orgeous Deana!
My Grandmother is one of the poorest - I sent her $400 for Easter and she had a heart attack, pace-maker and 2 weeks later she thanked me - woman in my hometown, but she used to have the prettiest Iris garden every spring. She is too old now to work in the garden, but I promise the irises were in rows like a rainbow. The white ones farthest west and the deep purples farthest east. She bought bulbs with her extree money from working factory.
I stopped by to let you know we had fish tonight, and we are going to miss you during the southern reading challenge. Come on, you could read three Sookie Stackhouses and not break a sweat. Vampire books by Tunica native Charlaine Harris are real popular and the HBO series debuts in September. Pure Dee Fun. :)

The flowers and garden are gorgeous, but I was so sorry to hear about the loss of the chick. Don't be too hard on the poor horses....like my fish, guess it's survival of the fittest.

Oh Deana, I am so very sorry about the little hen. I so understand how sad this is.

They have to learn about horses and cars (and probably dogs). Too bad there isn't an easier way.

Oh those flowers! They are making me drool!
I'm missing my blond too. One you find something that works, leave it alone. Where's the pic of your new do?

Okay, so they're not vultures. Is that a purple bug or caterpillar in the first shot?
