What's in your wallet?..well purse.

I have everything now I had 20 years ago except now, it's all lower.
Gypsy Rose Lee

I was tagged by Ms. Mimi to do the purse MEME.  I don't like to do a lot of memes, honestly I ignore a lot of tags and even awards because I don't like singling out others when giving them out.  But in this case it had to do with the purse and seeing how I love my accessories how could I go wrong.

I was to dump my purse, take a photo, explain the contents and tag others.  This I refuse to do but to all the other ladies, especially those wondering what new bag you'll get for fall, this is a great time to show your stuff....literally.

Contents_of_purse

This is my little pink fabric Coach bag I'd bought for this summer.    I need to have it cleaned and some minor repairs.  I traveled with it and it took a beating.  I don't hold on to them like I used to.  I like to donate them, only my very favorites or very pricey ones stay forever.  This one I haven't decided what I'll do with yet.

For fall I'd love a large Gucci bag.  THAT would not be donated at Winter's end.  (I always get practical in the end so maybe a Kate Spade? )

So my contents:

I see some cash.  Balled up of course and not in my wallet.  My wallet has my ID and my treasured Lowe's Foods Card...I really save those points. (We get hundreds of dollars worth of free groceries a year with that baby)...my Blockbuster card and debit cards....pics of the kids.

I see a 20% of Bath and Body card I need to use.  My hand sanitizer, my beloved Motrin (though I've really cut back since going organic), my beloved Orbit (trying to cut back)..both my cell and my husband's, don't know why. - I can't bitch today when I can't get him if I've confiscated his phone.  I have my lip gloss.  Only 2 tubes is doing pretty good.  I can't believe there are no Lancome Juicy Tubes.  I do have one tube of Origins Lip Stick.  Very sheer.  I rarely wear actual lipstick anymore, just light gloss or lighter colors.  Lip stick ages you and after 40 you should stay lighter.  My emery board.  A deposit I need to do for BMA.  My business cards.  And ticket stubs because I hold them for my treasures box and try to remember to give them to the kids to keep too.  Those are from Wall-e months ago.   And I see a card I picked up at Floydfest for an artist that had a lamp I'd like to own.

Nothing embarrassing.  I'm one of those who'll say, "Hey can you grab that out of my purse"...to Martin, my mom, the kids, the grocer..so I don't carry embarrassing stuff.

I used to average 7 tubes of gloss or lipstick when I worked full time.  And a compact and an eyeliner...I've changed.  But if I ever dump my purse and there is NO gloss...call the doctor, I'm done.

We are so looking forward to this nice long Labor Day weekend at home.  We have friends coming tonight.  Family tomorrow.  I am going to the zoo Monday...the rain has gone and the sun is back out.  I have lovely dark red Asiatic lilies to plant this morning.  I have been invited to a new gallery to show some things, I'll take them this afternoon.   Earl has injured his leg and I have to nurse and babysit him today between errands.

I'm making BBQ ribs and chicken, Cole slaw and a roasted corn black bean relish for my buddies tonight.    A real Southern classic.

I'll be dressed in WHITE all weekend to try to get them all worn by Monday night.  I will not wear bright white pants, shoes, nor carry a white handbag after Monday.  Sandals sure...that tradition has long gone but the whites...I can't do linens or bright whites after Labor Day.  I'm a good Southern girl...I have my values.

I still have a stack of awards to pass on.  Today would be just too much.  I need to just have an "award" day I guess.

Like to discuss it, see it or not, they do search blogs to see whose talking about it so YES I DID WATCH THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION AND YES I THOUGHT OBAMA DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF STANDING UP TO MCCAIN AND SAYING WHAT HE WILL DO IN OFFICE.   Actually I thought they all did a great job of showing McCain as the awful choice for Commander and Chief that he is.  I'd read Obama's policy on health care a while back and I'm all for it.

But, back to happy things...happy flowers....bees and blooms...pretty colors...happy things.....

Have a great weekend and

Go AMY!!!!!!  We're proud of you.  Shake it with Eddie Money Girls!

Amy and friends are racing this weekend in a half marathon in Virginia Beach.

I never got into the bag thing. I have the same one I've had for years, only this summer I changed to a small straw like one and so got rid of so much junk. As a girl I remember Art Linkletter had a show where he would go out in the audience and look in women's pocketbooks. They would win stuff if they had what he was looking for.

I've been watching the DNC like others watch the Olympics. I've been moved and very impressed by all.

Uggh, I would hate to have to take a photo of what lives in my purse, which is a hand-me-down from you at least from 5 years ago. I still like it though. Eventhough the post-it note art collection the kids have in there would entertain. I was very moved by the speech last night, I heard more good stuff than I had even hoped for. So glad to finally hear about Americans having personal responsibility in all this. That whole we have a program for you was getting a little old, but I will give the RNC equal viewing and objectivity. I feel that is the responisbility of all of us that hold an opinion on the matter. I must say the prospect of Sarah Polin as VP this morning is exciting. She's smart, she's an environmentalist, she's tough, she's as close to an energy expert as you can find in a governor and she would be perfect and exactly what this race needs for a kick in the pants. I hope it's her.

LOVE these pictures of all the living creatures...Human, Animal & Plant, plus...GREAT Shots, Deana....!
I haven't used a purse in a number of years now because I am unable to go anywhere...IF I have to drive up the street...It simplifies things immensly. My License, a Credut card, a few bucks, and my House Keys!

I was moved and exited by Obama's spoeech and by the entire Democratic Convention. I know who and what the other side is all about. I do not need to hear the same old same old, so it is back to work this coming week, for me. I KNOW WHO I AM VOTING FOR and it has nothing to do with the Republican Party.
Obama is our only hope. And he makes complete sense to me. BRAVO to him!
OBAMA/BIDEN....GO GO GO!

The picture of the bees is wonderful, Deana. Not much to talk about regarding the pocket stuff. I carry a wallet, 17 years old, with just the normal ID, cash, and credit cards in it. In my pockets I just have a slip of paper with some errands on it and my USB key (there's always a need to move data from lab to lab during the course of my day.)

I am seriously laughing out loud as I think of what one might see if I took a photo of my bag "innards"...crumpled sticker backings from Kate's Dr appointment this week (two shots, poor baby), a few hair clips (none of them mine, most of them pink), crayons in a zip bag from when we ate out recently (for the Short People, not me), an old grocery list, 5-6 pens, loose beads from a broken Short Person's bracelet, coupons, India's first grade supply list...there's a theme here. Most of this stuff isn't mine! Maybe I should buy purses for the S.P.?

I'd love to show you my purse, if I had one. I am a firm believer in simplicity; if it doesn't fit in my pocket or cleavage, I don't carry it.

I am definitely not into whites thus I never have to worry about the whole labor day thing.

As for the DNC, and RNC for that matter; I'm just glad people are finally paying attention. I was so tired of the uninvolved American who doesn't vote and then complains about what's going on but doing nothing to change it. Vote and own up to your choices - mistake or not.

I agree with you on Obama. Awesome job. It was a great speech!

I have a pen, 2 checkbooks, $20.00 cash, a "Touch the Sky" CD for children (I'm going to start teaching K-8year olds dance steps to Jesus music, lol), a pad of paper, a pack of Doublemint, a grocery list and a pharmacy script. Guess I better get going!

I couldn't even read the post because I'm freaking out over your purse. I think I have the same one! Is it a swingpack? I also have the wristlet. I love that style, it keeps me from carrying a huge purse that breaks my back. Though I looked at it today and realized it was STUFFED.

Four comments:

1. My Coach bag, which is quite large, is endless clutter and MUST be cleaned this weekend. Thanks fro the inspiration!

2. I live with that old "white" thing, too. I think it's definitely a southern thing. My dear late mother would have cringed knowing I still wear sandals year round (but I live in a resort city).

3. Speaking of which, the Rock and Roll is in my city, and I have lots of friends running it this year. It's a great race.

4. I'm picking up my Obama/Biden yard sign today. McCain's choices scare me, including his choice of a very inexperienced running mate (whom I admire as a mother).

Have a great weekend, and bask in those white clothes!

Hope for your sake and Canada's that Obama wins.

I did the meme.

And I don't understand how Labour Day got here so soon.

Well, if you ever get bored with your designer purses you can donate them to the HMAF-- Haggard Mother of America Foundation, otherwise known as Stepherz.com. I'll find a good home for your old Coach bags, right on my arm. I promise to wear it with my nicest pair of Wal Mart Sweats and to keep it stocked at all times with at least 2 diapers, a tube of lipstick, and an empty wallet with an array of colorful, stylish maxed out credit cards. ;-)

Beautiful pics! :-)

I have this funny scene in my head, of you calling your husband to give it to him, and then answering his phone (because it was in your purse) and you curse yourself out!

btw, I started the Legal Limit last night.

Love the little pink coach bag. And very interesting to take a gander at all that it holds. Many of the same items would be found in mine.. like the lip gloss but Tylenol instead of Motrin and Trident in place of Orbit and loose change rather than bills. :-)

Like the new look you have going on here. I have been so wrapped up in summer things that not much time has been spent at my computer. It is nice to be catching up.

I came back to read your Purse Meme...I think I need more coffee for this.....be back in a sec....

First of all, thank you for taking the time to do this meme. It did take some time out of your day but the good news is you're out of the dungeon (for now)..Bwaaahhaahhhaa....

Isn't it funny that nobody's money was in their wallets where it's supposed to be? I shop and then throw it in the bottom of my purse. I should know better than that! But then shopping wouldn't be so much fun....

I bow to your prissiness. We are kindred lip gloss spirits.

Hey, we chew the same gum! LOVE the purse meme. And the purse!

And I LOVED the DC convention as well. GO OBAMA!!!
