Stealing Sundays with Style
Behind every successful man is a surprised woman. - Maryon Pearson
A collage of the weekend. Martin spoke to a large crowd at the library. I walked in late, just going to slip in the back and rest, and was so embarrassed because it was a full house and I had to find a seat with everyone pointing the empty seat out for me. I met some interesting intellectuals at the cocktail party thrown in his honor. The theme followed Martin's books and the centerpiece was the scales of justice with a Miller Light can on one and a nice scotch on the other. If you drank wine you were supposed to through a straw though I refused, being the DD and just barely sipping on a glass. My post title is actually a play on words since our hostess was none other than Emyl Jenkins.
But even the trashy theme and party decorations couldn't make that spectacular house in the Richmond avenues look bad. That night we got to just chill with close friends and enjoy Bart Chucker, a friend of Martin's and a super nice guy, play in his band. They were great. Much more than I even expected...The next morning I had breakfast at this cool place called 3 Monkeys as we watched it pour the rain coming in from the hurricane. I told Toonces that if my sister had a blog that would be a great name for it. Actually maybe "3 monkeys and a cat.".....so we had a great time, I met some really nice people (even a couple who read my blog) and I am glad I got to make this trip with him.
When the band did this classic I had to grab my camera and record a bit for my sis in law. It's very dark and you can hear Toonces singing part of it unfortunately but it is still a shout out to Amy.
It is Sunday and once again time to go visit Sunday Stealing for a meme.
Have you ever…
1. gone on a blind date? no. I was way too picky for that.
2. skipped school? yes.. And got caught and punished for it too.
3. watched someone die? yes.
4. been on a plane? yes.
5. been on the opposite side of your country? geographically sure...allegiance wise no, never.
6. swam in the ocean? often.
7. had your booze taken away by the cops? yes.
8. lettered in high school sport? yes.
9. cried yourself to sleep? yes.
10. played cops and robbers? yes.
11. sung karaoke? unfortunately yes.
12. paid for a meal with coins only? yes.
13. done something you told yourself you wouldn’t? like once a week at least.
14. cheated on an exam? no. I'm not one for cheating.
15. made prank phone calls? yes.
16. laughed until some sort of beverage came out of your nose? oh yeah. I've also laughed until I actually did pee in my pants.
17. caught a snowflake on your tongue? before acid rain sure.
18. written a letter to Santa Claus? still do...or at least leave notes of what I want on his desk.
19. watched the sunrise with someone you care about? yes.
20. been kissed under the mistletoe? yes.
21. ever been arrested? No, but, Tate and I were issued a citation during the 80's clean up days at Myrtle Beach...when they were trying to make the place more "family" oriented...for drinking in public. Not drunk in public. I turned up a beer on the strip. We were just 21. Since we didn't have the cash with us to pay the fine I had to ride in the squad car with her driving behind us to the police station until our friends could bring us the money. The whole experience was so humiliating that I learned my lesson. I took my drinking indoors.
Now that would make a good blog post one day. The story of Tate and I terrified our friends wouldn't show up before the hookers came in.
22. gone ice skating? no, those skinny metal blades scared me.
23. been skinny dipping outdoors? sure.
24. had a nickname? many, currently I am called Rollie or Bear by Toonces, Blundie by an old friend, Tate by another, Dee or Big D from many people. I had a friend once who called me Trixa Lillie or Trixie...that was cool.
25. been on TV? local yes. National no.

If you haven't seen this clip yet, it is hysterical. I know it is one sided and both sides do it but I have never cared for Bill O'Reilly so anything showing what a jerk he is is fine with me.

Love the beer on the beach story-- that's so funny. I've gotten in a little trouble drinking at Myrtle too. What is it about Myrtle!?
But hanging out with the hookers isn't so bad. :-) They make memorable conversation-- much more interesting and depthful than the intellects.
I can't wait to hear your post on Myrtle-- the silly stories from our youth are so fun to tell and so fun to hear about. :-)

I am currently reading Mr. T's book... and I am LOVING it. I am not sure if I can express this properly and give the right impression.. but I am so engrossed in the story and the words that while I read I forget that it is written by Deana's hubby. Wonderful book!
