Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul. ~John Muir
Today's photos are of Katie who is helping me make a senior sample gallery. She is a very photogenic and beautiful girl so I thought I would show you some of our work from yesterday since I rarely show actual work here.
A story:
Yesterday I went to return a bathing suit in Winston at the mall. Izzy went with me. We had to get Seth's birthday gift too. Izzy just turned eight so I wasn't comfortable letting her out to roam the large Belk store so she went into the fitting room with me. Since it was swimsuits I made her face the corner until she could turn around to help.
And help she did. Izzy was very kind even when I looked like a butterball...at times I truly felt like the Cathy cartoons and I always get mad at how I've let my middle expand.
Isabelle really liked one on me but I just thought the waist looked way too chunky so she was up taking her tiny hands trying to squish my waist in. She'd say things like "See that isn't so bad." At one point when we had both gotten frustrated with my tummy she said "You know there is surgery for that." I told her to trust me, I had debated it. She said "Why don't you just not eat for a few weeks? I will come be your trainer."
Izzy put it in her mind then and there to help me drop those extra pounds. She takes things like that very seriously.
I told Melanie if she grew up to be an anorexic after the shock of seeing me try on swimsuits it was all my fault.
We went to eat dinner after our pedicures at an outdoor pizza place called the loop. Izzy also got a lava cake. I had an Asian salad. We were eating and Isabelle had moved on into her cake and she took the extra spoon and got up a bite and said "here. This is the only bite you can have so don't ask for more. Remember your bathing suit." And out of the mouth of my eight year old niece came "I was so relieved when you got that salad." Just as serious as can be.
I almost choked on my lettuce.
And I had to keep from cracking up.
I told Toonces it was like an afternoon with Jillian Micheals.

You were very good at accounting but your talent is photography! Love all of your pictures. That Izzy is a hoot!

She can be funny in that way. Caleb & I decided to have a sit-up contest night before last (we didn't invite Izzy because we knew she would kick our butts)I tapped out at 60 Caleb made it to 100 with breaks and she finally decided to stop about 150. She's a machine.

Where are the swimsuit 'before' pics?

ohmygosh! Out of the mouths of babes! Why, oh why, did we ever lose that frankness! It's priceless.
I have much more than a middle to lose, and I think I will keep Izzy's words in my mind before I put anything in my mouth! :-D
Katie is a real beauty, but her warm, brown eyes captured by full attention. Gorgeous!

A wonderful story. And Izzy said that with such tact and niceness too. Some kids would have just made mean comments. She's a jewel!!

"Why don't you just not eat for a few weeks" *chortle*--I almost squirted coffee out of my nose at that one.
How can you NOT lose weight with Izzie around to crack the whip? Good luck with that!

Hiliarious! I was right there with you, the one in the bathing suit. I do worry that plastic surgery will become common with the younger generation. There is something weird to me about cutting redoing our bodies like that.
The photo shoot is amazing. You are very talented!

That is hilarious! What a perfect comment. I've had to wear my bathing suit a couple of times this year and it's not pretty. I have not lost all of the extra pounds I've wanted to. But I'm working on it. I guess maybe I should order the salad too. :)

That is funny. My daughter can have a way of saying things some times too.
