I'm a free-spirited photographer, soon-to-be yoga teacher, gold medal aunt, aromatherapy lover, and grand adventurer who loves nothing more than warm evenings on the porch with her husband, dogs, cats and a good bourbon.
My wallet's gettin thin And I just lost my watch last night Well I gotta problem Just one answer Gotta throw it all down And kiss it goodbye Yeah! That was a crazy game of poker ~ O.A.R.
Maybe it was foreshadowing that these hands used for my poker shot of the night would belong to the winner in the end.
Game night 2010 was a success, I think. Knocking out those winter doldrums. It was so nice to spend the evening with close friends and family. I didn't win but it didn't matter, I had so many laughs.
Congrats to Suzy the 2010 big winner!!!
Raking in her pile. I had found a t-shirt that has All In Buffet...
This year I had everyone turn in a song for a Hot Hot Hot mix CD. That being my theme this time. It was so much fun seeing what HOT meant to different people. They truly ranged from spicy to warm weather memories to hot romance. The group had to guess who turned in which song. It was a way to get the whole group involved and take a little break from the cards.
Thanks to our friends/family for making it so much fun and bringing in such great food!
Sue, partnered with Sharon, an unbeatable pair at Rook.
Martin and Larry ham it up in the kitchen.
After getting ready yesterday and clean up this morning I am in the mood for a big nap!

Our annual game night is tomorrow. It was snowed out last month. I'm excited but lots to do, lots to do. Caleb and Isabelle were out of school yesterday for who knows what number (ice in spots). I'm guessing they won't be around any in June because they will still be in school making up the month they missed. But it gave them a chance to test out a new game edition for the Clark house.

I was doing some macro shots of my cala lily when I caught this moment of Toonces going in to give old Dale a kiss. I WISH I could've had time to adjust the aperture to have put Dale in focus but I still think it is very sweet.
I have used that quote before but I wanted to remind myself of just that.
We had Seth for a sleepover Thursday night. My sister had to go to a Jr. Beta convention with Caleb and Seth, never having spent a night away from her, chose me for his first sleepover visit. Plus it was easier for me to take him to his pre-school and pick him up Friday. Or he might have chosen Ben.
Having some art time with him inspired me to get the camera out.
The last is a bubble bath shot.
He played in the tub for an hour with his tub toys and me re-heating the water and rejuvenating the bubbles. He said he needed it to get the paints and dough-nut off him. He was a little freaked by his "old" fingers and toes. They really were as shriveled as I have seen. I just told Seth, who is four, that they needed to breath some air and sure enough about 10 minutes later he told me he wasn't an old boy anymore.
Today after waking and feeling really bad from sinus problems, stomach problems...Toonces with a sore back from carrying off the downed trees he cut up...we had to cancel a fun invitation for the night and stayed in putting books on the new bookshelves I had built in the guest room yesterday. Hanging some of my favorite pictures and making it to one of Caleb's AAU tournament games that we, Patrick County, are hosting this weekend.
I love you can see the horses in this one:
I wonder if I am the only person that wanted a picture of their kid in front of those awesome kitty eyes. COUGAR eyes. I was a cougar you know. But that print on the wall wasn't there then. Only caveman drawings.
Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Every year Toonces gets me the biggest card he can find. He went ahead and put in on my pillow last night and when I came into bed (in the dark) I told him it almost knocked me out.
Toonces and I rented a beach house on Emerald Isle, NC for our anniversary week. A house large enough for my entire family AND we get to take Earl and Eudora. That was like a Valentine/Anniversary combo. I'm excited but I have to wait until April.
My lavender Cala lilies arrived Friday. Every V-day I get a new color to add to my lily bed. The cala-lily was our wedding flower.
AND THEN...then there was the vet bill for Calista and Earl. So I might as well claim that as a V-day gift too because poor Toonces wasn't so happy.
To my Toonces...I luv you. Nothing you ever do for us goes unappreciated. :) You make this such a happy home.
Oooh and Happy Valentines day to our Democratic senate who blocked our Gov from drilling off our coast. It is scary (for me) to think of what we are willing to destroy for money. I've come to the conclusion that if someone came to our area and offered us 500 jobs with a decent base pay and not even a guarantee of more than fifteen years....the trade off being that we had to clear cut and give up the Blue Ridge Parkway to them I honestly believe it would be about a 50/50 split between people fighting in our area to save it and the others grasping at pathetic quick fixes.
