"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul." ~John Muir
I'd wanted to post on old Freckles. A horse over thirty years old. A tough old Freck who made it through another winter. He eats his own special food now. Alone. The other two certainly don't need to gain. Ruby is aging. Fifteen. I promised her I would cut those ugly hairs off her chin when we get home from the beach. No lady wants chin hairs!
The horses were living in a friend's pasture for a few weeks while ours was fertilized, etc. They are home again. I'm glad of it. I miss them when they aren't there when I come down the steps in the morning.
So here are some Freck shots, our guard dogs guarding the truck while we brushed the horses, and my baby chicks. Sonic, Siobhan and Bowersox. Seth named one. I named two. Can you guess who did what? Unfortunately they were long Island Reds and we can't have those. We don't have nesting boxes and ours have to be able to fly to roost at night safely. So now they are at my dad's.
He'd been brushed. He is gaining weight again. He is happy and loved and he feels great. Getting old isn't easy on any of us.
and so I'm off on another new adventure with this amazing man I married. I still pinch myself at times because someone that kind, patient, loving, giving...mushy, charming, funny loves me the way that he does. I am blessed and I am thankful.
I love you Toonces. Life with you is our own little fairytale.
