I love flipping over to a new year. Or at least this year I do. Last year I really did stick to the changes I made. Little ones. This year I hope to keep gradually simplifying my life. Spending more time with friends and my family. Letting things go that really don't matter in the long run. Being healthier, of course. Martin and I are both at an age that if we want a long life together we have no choice but to eat healthy and be active. I baked up all the cookies in the house yesterday because as of January 1 we are back on clean eating. Though we really didn't do too bad at Christmas, I just can't seem to look at junk food anymore without it showing up. So lots of water, green tea, excercise and fresh fruits, veggies and lean proteins are in our future. Giving up processed foods and sugars though give me so much energy that I just try to remember that when those first cravings hit!
I loved 2012. I did. I had some great times with my buddies and the kidlets. I love our week at the beach so much that we plan to all do it again this year. I did Boston with Ben and it is Orlando with Izzy, my sister and Bronx this spring and then Miami with Jackson next winter. I am finally, Lord willing, getting to go to Paris in August. And it looks like we may finally make plans to re-do our downstairs bathroom and adding a bedroom down here. Things we have both dreaded but need to do. Eventually we know we will have to move our bedroom down here if we are fortunate enough to grow old together. Until then I am sure our guests and the kids will appreciate a new place to stay.
My very favorite photo of 2012.
And of all things it was made with my point and shoot. Just goes to show that those DSLRs are not the only way to make a photo. This one means the world to me.
One of the best things about being out here, so far removed from the rest of the world, is that we can really be in the moment. No distractions. Ben, Seth and I had the best time that day. This photo just seemed to capture summer so perfectly.
So here's to love. To our health. To simplicity and elegance. To passion and fun. Wishing you a very happy new year!!!
