I love the fair. I love the smells, the whirling sounds of the rides, kids squealing...I love the fact that our fair has the same charm it had 20 or 30 or 40 years ago. You still have the livestock. You still have community meeting and playing together. As much as it can be hard to tolerate the backwardness of the area at times, it is also nice to have good, family oriented folks who would do anything in the world for you and who have that nice slow pace that seems to slow the world down for a bit and let you actually take things in.
I love the color. The vivid colors that dance off every ride, every tent...they seem to splash up and mingle right in with the sky and I love that. Toonces couldn't believe I wouldn't take the big SLR for great fair shots but I told him "I have great fair shots from last year. And I want to jump right in with the kids." It is why I even got the little point and shoot. Not that I didn't fuss when I couldn't control the way the flash looked or I didn't have that super fast lens that can stop time in a crisp sharp look. But we did okay, my little Canon and me. And we got the spirit of the night with my family and that was all I was after.
Last night was perfect. The weather, the temps, and my whole entire family counting my bff Shishy were out...everyone but Toonces who had a book gig out of town.
Here are some top moments for me:
All fairs need pretty girls...
Maybe I should call this one "Hot Mamas". That is my mom and sis in law Amy. Amy's eyes are almost closed but it was the best one of mama and mama has more power over me than Amy so mom's best pic won out.
Am I crazy or is this little girl checking out the J man? He is very cute.
I am surprised the fair grounds could control all this sizzle...
When I saw this next picture as I downloaded them last night I busted out laughing. I had taken Izzy to the restroom after dinner and I guess I should've been more helpful.
Nothing like the old shirt tucked in your panties look. Her mom must've found it because by the time we get to the livestock she is fixed.
My favorites may be a mood or the way the colors lay or emotion capturing a great moment. Here are my favorite photographs of this year.
Please note that no, I am not biased. Melanie is still like the mama hen and her widdies. She doesn't let Seth go off with us. He played with my cousin Maddi most of the night. I was with Caleb and Jackson the entire time, Ben a lot of the time and I picked up Izzy mid way.
Seth, my dad, Maddi, Jackson, Izzy, my mom.
The mean kids...making fun of me (poor Izzy had to ride with me) as our cart went around...they are next in line.
And my favorite photo this year:
I love the purple sky, I love Caleb's concentration and I love the fact that I know that Amy is telling Jackson "No, you cannot get one with a half naked girl on it."
For the rest of my favorites this year go Here.
Family and Friends who want to see the entire album go HERE. As with all albums, click on any thumbnail and it will show you the image.
I would also like to say that one thing I also liked about last night that whether it was Isabelle being kind and helping her baby brother and Maddi safely out of their riding carts or Jackson telling his brother not to be afraid on the magic carpets, or guiding him through crowds...even Caleb and Izzy laughing together over which posters they were going to get after they'd won a game...all the kids were very good to each other last night and if you've ever been out with a big family or your own kids you know how nice that makes things....
Have a super-duper weekend guys! Blessings!
