The nice clerk scanned the items at the grocery store. Batman fruit roll-ups, Trix cereal, Krispy Creme Donuts, Reece's Pieces, Skittles, Little Debbie Raisin Cakes, pineapple and Dora the Explorer yogurt. "The kids coming over this weekend?" she asked.
"Yes, Ben is coming for a sleepover." I answered.
Either a good or bad thing about living in a small town. People get to know you. Know your habits and since I am a line chatterer, perhaps out of boredom of being home alone most days, they know even more about me. They might not be able to give you the kids names but they know I have Labs (they are with me half the time), several cats, chickens, horses...they also know when I throw parties for grown ups, the kids, the girls...they know all I guess.
As we go into the weekend, Happy Weekend by the way, I thought I would share some photos from a walk to the creek we made last week.
T and Eudora pose.
Look at my sweet Earl. Toonces used a term for Earl's look that the kids tell me is not PC anymore and cannot be used at school. But I don't think Toonces should be dissing the intelligence of my dog when he goes around looking like this....
Nice button job T.
I think it is plain to see in Earl's photos that he adores me.
By some miracle of miracles Baby cat has found her way down to the creek. Darius often walks with us but not Baby. Of course minutes later she was stuck up on a stump and on our way back I caught a shot of Toonces rescuing her out of the pasture before Spirit or one of the other horses stomped her. Baby doesn't have farm cat skills.
I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.
My father in law came by the studio the other day with his little dog Gatsby. Gatsby is 14 and hasn't been feeling so well lately. These guys are especially on our minds right now so I thought I'd let that be my post today.
"The trouble with jogging is that, by the time you realize you're not in shape for it, it's too far to walk back." Franklin P. Jones
I can't believe I forgot to show you guys the Thugs' Santa photo.
We've all been there. Nothing to blog about. Too much other stuff clogging our brains. So instead of just going days without a post here are my...
TOP 10 Reasons I Can't Think About Blogging:
Taxes- we've had the table covered with paperwork and receipts. I hate tax time.
The studio- I've been slack since the Bahamas vacation and I think my plant has probably died. I have to get back to work today.
Laundry- my mom totally had my laundry caught up when we got home and I got the travel laundry done quickly but somehow within a week the laundry monster in the closet has returned full size with a vengeance.
Groceries- I need to do the weekly menu plus now I am out of all the basics.
gardening- time to cut off the monkey and Pampas grasses and get my timbers and dirt to build my cottage style vegetable garden this year.
Shoes- yes shoes can always distract me. J Crew has some gold ones I am dying for and then I found THESE!!! Ilove these Donald Pliner wedge sandals. Darn taxes! Taxes are taking my wedges!
sheets- I have got to sit down and order us some new sheets. I've been meaning to for months. We are picky sheet people. Only white. Only over 1000 thread counts. So I can't just run out and buy them. And that is just one more thing to get in the way of my shoes!
exercise- I have been doing 45 minutes on the Elliptical and 30 yoga or stretching or core exercisess. Now a yoga class is in town and I need to call and sign up.
upgrades- I am updating my Photoshop to CS4 and my download keeps getting interrupted. And it is really slowing down the Internet speed.
I think the kids were excited to see Shishy show up at Caleb's ball game. They were all over her.
Seth is all over the place period and I had as much fun watching his sideline positioning as I did Caleb playing. Especially when we looked over and found him in the water fountain with half his head drenched. He is kind of at the age where it is about like keeping up with a ferret.
With Toonces in Pittsburgh the cats played. This cat didn't win the big prize but came out well enough.
I love hosting parties and get togethers but after they are over I often feel that I wasn't the hostess I should've been. I like cutting up. I like to laugh and just be free of thought. Then again I like real discussions where I think it is good to get the opinions and points of view from other women. But sometimes I feel like I offend other people thanks to my bluntness or outspokenness. Or I don't entertain some guests well enough. Or I am just so tired. Then I will decide not to host anything fo awhile that isn't catered to a kid.
A few weeks from now I will be planning something else.
I can't stand it.
I like having friends around.
Friends make things brighter.
And sometimes they bring me presents!
I wonder if Toonces is bringing me a present from Pittsburgh. I doubt it. Right now I am just praying for warmer weather for his flight home. We both are afraid to fly in snow.
