Darius helps Seth hide eggs as Earl looks on.
We had a grand time coloring eggs yesterday, Seth and I. We added glitter which is still on my floor and various pet beds. We hid them afterward to get a feel for Sunday's main event. Eudora LOVES eggs. She will find eggs occasionally in the barn and bring them down to us and she just lies there guarding them. Every year she finds a real one to her liking at the hunt and takes it perhaps thinking she can hatch it herself. She never eats them. Just GUARDS them.
When it was Seth's turn to hide the eggs and I had my back turned she apparently took one. After I found all I could we were missing one. Seth was puzzled because he thought he remembered where they were hidden. I thought "Dora." and sure enough it was under her front paws. A very light blue egg with no glitter. We took it away from her and I hid them for Seth. She walked right down to her blue egg, scooped it in her mouth and walked away. Seth determined to not let her have an Easter egg walked over and despite her cries, took her egg away for a second time and told her to "Stop being a baby Dora. Go get your own egg out of the fridgerator." I just shook my head and wondered if I baby those Labs so much and talk to them so much like humans if Seth doesn't feel he can have a conversation with her...and that she can actually get her own untouched egg from the fridge.
I've been fighting a nasty sore throat/coughing virus on top of my normal dreadful allergies. I've been banished to the guest room because we are both having a hard time sleeping with all my coughing. So this morning when the phone rang I had no idea of the time, date, anything being a zombie from that last few hours of crash sleep after being up all night with coughing fits. I answer and it is Seth all upset saying "Our cat is gone. Our cat is gone."
"Gone?" I kept asking, because gone to Seth can mean dead or just gone. "Which cat?" I interrupted because they have outdoor cats and then there is Tasha. The queen of the Beasley household. A long haired Siamese with stunning eyes. Pretty much my sister's cat. So when Seth yelled Tasha I thought "Oh my God something has happened to Tasha and Melanie is probably over there doing CPR on the cat and they are all hysterical because Tasha is the QUEEN...." I thought poor Seth had just picked up the phone hitting speed dial numbers and got me when his mom freaked out over her cat that undoubtedly one of the kids had killed or caused a heart attack...or she'd been poisoned. I could see Caleb freaking out and he and Izzy missing the bus to school. I was about to hang up to get my parent's on the phone and get them out to Melanie's house. Because Seth was very animated and he is only four so he was very believable. And then the little stinker yelled "April fools" and I just stood there with my mouth open.
My sister got on the phone. She had no idea what he was going to do he just wanted to call and fool me. And I am there just out of bed still shaking because I still had visions of her doing CPR like the commercial with the male teacher and the little girl says "something's wrong with Scooter." ...ah what a way to start your day! I didn't get any tricks off!
So that's where we are. Battling a virus and preparing for the annual egg hunt on Sunday. Amy's birthday is Saturday and Izzy's is Monday. She will be 9. Amy is still pretty young too. But a big weekend for everyone. Tomorrow Izzy and I go shopping for her Spring birthday wardrobe. And pedicures. A must so I can pull out my warm weather shoes and not be ashamed of my cracked dry heels!
Time to cut it off and get my beauty sleep. Hopefully without a night full of coughing. 'Cause if I look bad, Izzy will certainly let me know it!
Have a wonderful weekend and a very blessed Easter!
